10.37 "Kiel vi povus fari tian teruraĵon al tia persono,kia bienulo Ĉu Min,Mintun?" Onjo Krizantemo diris finfine,per voĉo tre kvieta.
"Ne,tion mi ne devus," la Delegito respondis,ankaŭ tre kviete,kun iomete da sarkasmo. "El via vidpunkto mi ne devus."
"Ne,vi malpravas," Onjo Krizantemo korektis la Delegiton. "Ne el mia vidpunkto,sed el via vidpunkto."
"Kion vi celas? Mi vin ne komprenas," la Delegito diris.
"Nu,ĉu vi ne intencas loĝi en la vilaĝo? Vi forestadis dum tiom da jaroj. Viaj prauloj en la Ĉielo sopiras revidi vin,sopiras ricevi vian filecajn oferaĵojn de la altaro. Se vi intencas reveni hejmen,Mintun--mi certas,ke jes--kiel vi kapablas ofendi tian gravulon en la distrikto,kia bienulo Ĉu Min?"
La frunto de la Delegito sulketiĝis,kaj li diris,"Ĉu vi parolas sencon,Krizantemo? Ĉu vin ne iomete efikis la revolucia movado de la kamparanoj? Kio,laŭ vi,mi estu? Ĉu reakciulo?"
"Eĉ unu vorton mi ne komprenas el tio,kion vi diras,Mintun. Vi sonas kiel klasika klerulo,parolante nur per klasika lingvaĵo. Sed ja diru al mi,ĉu vi ne intencas loĝi en la vilaĝo nun,kiam vi fariĝis gravulo? Mi vin atendadis dum tiuj longaj jaroj,tiuj longaj tagoj kaj longaj noktoj."

"How can you do such a dreadful thing to such a person as Landlord Chumin,Mintun?" Aunt Chrysanthemun said at last,her voice very quiet.
"No,I shouldn\'t," the Delegate replied,also very quietly,with a touch of sarcasm. "From your point of view I shouldn\'t."
"No,you\'re mistaken," Aunt Chrysanthemum corrected the Delegate. "Not from my point of view,but from your point of view."
"What do you mean? I don\'t understand you," the Delegate said.
"Why,aren\'t you going to live in the village? You have been absent for so many years. Your ancestors up in Heaven long to see you,long to receive your filial offerings from the altar. If you are going to be back home,Mintun--I am sure you are--how can you afford to offend such an important man of the district as Landlord Chumin?"
The Delegate\'s forhead wrinkled up in folds,and he said,"Are you talking sense,Chrysanthemum? Haven\'t you been slightly affected by the revolutionary movement of the peasants? What do you expect me to be? A reactionary?"
"I don\'t understand a word of what you say,Mintun. You sound like a classical scholar,talking only in classical language. But do tell me,aren\'t you going to live in the village,now that you have become a great man? I have been waiting for you all these long years,these long days and long nights."
