10.36 "Mintun! Kiel vi kapablas fari similan aferon kontraŭ Lordon Ĉu Min!" Ina voĉo leviĝis akre en la aeron,skuante dispecige la funebran kvieton.

Virino sin trapuŝis al la podio. "Mintun! Tiaĵon vi ne povas fari!" La homamason konsternegis ŝia malpaca antaŭeniro. Multaj junaj terkulturistoj provis haltigi ŝin,tirante per la rando de ŝia vestaĵo. Ŝi forte baraktis por sin liberigi. Sed ŝia forto elĉerpiĝis kaj ŝi kolapsis. Onklo Pan kaj Alan kaj mi kuris al la loko por helpi ŝin sidiĝi. Ŝi estis nia Onjo Krizantemo,kiu sen nia scio estis inter la homamaso.

Perturbita de la okazaĵo,la Delegito deiris de la podio por esplori. Tuj kiam li konstatis,ke la incidenton kreis Onjo Krizantemo,li paliĝis,sed iom post iom karmezino supreniris sur lia kolo por dilui la palecon. Tiam jam estis alveninta tre haste ankaŭ Laŭ Liŭ. Ambaŭ staris vizaĝalvizaĝe super Onjo Krizantemo,kaj fiksrigardis unu alian scivoleme,kvazaŭ ili devenus de du tute malsamaj planedoj. Iliaj brovoj eksulkiĝis,kaj iliaj lipoj estis kunpremitaj. La malbrilaj vitrecaj okuloj de Onjo Krizantemo svingiĝis de unu al la alia. Ambaŭ viroj ŝajne havis multon direndan,sed neniu el ambaŭ povis melfermi la buŝon. Tio estis stranga situacio. Efektive,ĝi estis groteska. Neniu el ni eĉ sonĝis,ke ili,tiuj tri,renkontiĝos la unuan fojon post multaj jaroj en tia stranga situacio kaj en tia stranga loko kaj inter tia stranga homamaso.

"Mintun! How can you do such a thing against Lord Chumin!" A female voice went up sharply into the air,shaking the funeral stillness into pieces.

A woman was pushing her way towards the platform. "Mintun! You can't do such a thing!" The crowd was flabbergasted by her violent advance. Many a young farmhand tried to stop her,pulling her back by the edge of her garment. She struggled vehemently to free herself. But her strength failed her and she collapsed. Uncle Pan and O Ran and I rushed to the spot to help her sit up. She was our Aunt Chrysanthemum,who had been among the crowd without our knowledge.

Upset by the incident the Delegate came down from the platform to investigate. As soon as he realised that it was Aunt Chrysanthemum who had made the scene,he turned pale,but gradually a cloud of crimson crept up his neck to dilute the pallor. By this time Lao Liu had also arrived in a great hurry. Both stood face to face over Aunt Chrysanthemum,and stared at one another inquisitively as though they had come from two entirely different planets. Frowns appeared on their brows,and their lips were drawn. Aunt Chrysanthemum's dull,glassy eyes swept from one to another. Both men seemed to have much to say,but none could open his lips. It was a strange situation. Indeed,it was grotesque. None of us had ever dreamed that they,the three of them,would meet for the first time after many years on such a queer occasion and in such a queer locality and amidst such a queer crowd.
